Strike!
There is a strike going on in Spain right now because the government is under a major reformation in order to not fall into an economic crisis and the workers don't like the changes being made. Our Spanish teacher, Carolina, had to ride one of the borrow-a-bikes to teach us yesterday because there were no buses running. There were also a lot of stores and restaurants closed. The most obvious sign of the strike was the garbage everywhere. I guess the garbage men were also on strike and I think people saved their trash to put out for the day of the strike as a sign of solidarity. There are garbage pick ups throughout the city and they collect it daily. These areas were overflowing. On our street someone had also put out a large couch and two arm chairs. My kids were impressed and wanted to keep the sofa. They were sure the garbage scavengers would be so excited about the furniture.
