Last year they completed a huge canopy over the Plaza de la Encarnacion. The canopy is like a huge mushroom shaped waffle. On the bottom floor they have a large market with lots of fresh seafood and stuff. Underground there is an antiquarium where you can go to view the roman ruins that were discovered while building the Metropol Parasol (the canopy). It was really neat to see all the mosaics and the foundations of the buildings and such. The best part of the whole thing is going up the elevator to the top floor. They have laid out pathways on top of the canopy with sights of all of Sevilla. It was a beautiful way to see the city. We were suprised by it because we hadn't really heard that much about it. I guess the Metropol Parasol is quite controversial in Sevilla because it cost about 86 million Euros and it is very modern architecture which some do not like. Luckily it only cost us 1.5 Euros to get to the top and 2 Euros for the antiquarium.
